Turkish parliament head congratulates Sri Lanka on its National Day

Mustafa Sentop congratulates friendly people of Sri Lanka in letter to his counterpart

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye’s parliament speaker offered his congratulations to Sri Lanka on Friday on the occasion of its National Day.

Mustafa Sentop congratulated the friendly people of Sri Lanka in a letter to Sri Lanka's Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

"I am of the opinion that our relations based on friendship and cooperation between our countries will continue in the future in a stable manner. Inter-parliamentary visits and contacts, which we can intensify with our joint efforts, will undoubtedly contribute positively to these relations," he wrote.

He also wished health, peace and happiness to the people of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka annually celebrates National Day on Feb. 4 to commemorate the country’s independence from British rule in 1948.
