ANKARA (AA) - At least 66 people were arrested Friday in operations in two Turkish provinces for suspected links to the PKK or Daesh terrorist groups.

In northwestern Sakarya province, police arrested four people suspected of being members of the PKK.

Separately, police arrested 62 people for suspected Daesh membership during simultaneous raids in several districts of Istanbul.

The suspects were said to be planning terrorist attacks.

Considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the U.S, the PKK has killed thousands of civilians and security personnel since 1984, including over 1,200 in the last two years alone.
