Turkish police deal major blow to drug trade in 2020

20 tons of marijuana, 11 tons of heroin, 800 kilograms of cocaine seized in 140,000 operations in 2020, police say

ANKARA (AA) – Turkish police dealt a heavy blow to drug-dealing with their operations conducted across the country throughout the year.

Some 140,000 anti-narcotic operations were conducted in 2020 and at least 20 tons of marijuana, 11 tons of heroin, 800 kilograms (1763 pounds) of cocaine, and 100 million Turkish lira ($13.44 million) were seized.

The police also shared videos of operations conducted by the anti-narcotics teams.​​​​​​​
