ANKARA (AA) - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with Kuwait’s emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah on Saturday amid being admitted to hospital on Wednesday for medical checks after suffering from a cold.

Erdogan conveyed his well wishes to the Kuwaiti emir, according to Presidential sources speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The official KUNA news agency quoted Emiri Court Affairs Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah as saying Sheikh Sabah would undergo “normal medical checks”, without giving further details.

In 2014, Sheikh Sabah, 88, had undergone a surgery in the U.S., but the Emiri Court did not reveal the nature of the surgery.

Sheikh Sabah has ruled the Gulf country since 2006.
