Turkish soldier martyred in southern Turkey

Soldier is shot when security forces stop a group trying to enter Turkey from Syria

HATAY, Turkey (AA) - A Turkish soldier was martyred on Wednesday during an operation on a group trying to illegally enter Turkey, according to security sources.

The incident took place in Yayladagi in the southern Hatay province when Turkish security forces on patrol intercepted a group trying to enter Turkey from Syria, added the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on the media.

The martyred soldier was first wounded by gunfire from an unknown source.

After being rushed to Hatay State Hospital, the soldier succumbed to his wounds.
