Turkish stock exchange begins midweek up

BIST 100 gains 17 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 10.874,18, up 0.16% or 17.02 points.

On Tuesday, the BIST 100 was down 0.28% to close at 10,857.17 points, with a daily transaction volume of 155.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.67 billion).

As of 10.15 am local time (0715GMT), exchange rates stood at 42.4730 Turkish liras to the US dollar, 48.2200 to the euro, and 56.0050 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $4,154.10, while Brent crude oil was trading at $62 per barrel.
