Turkish stock exchange begins Thursday down

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 41.90 points at opening bell

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 10,908.05 points, falling 0.38%, or 41.90 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 slightly lost 0.04% to close at 10,949.95 points, with a daily transaction volume of 103.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.55 billion).

As of 09.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 40.7820 liras to the US dollar, 47.7880 to the euro, and 55.5440 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,358.75, while Brent crude oil was trading at $65.70 per barrel.
