Turkish stock exchange begins Thursday on high note

Benchmark BIST 100 index gains 36.37 points at opening bell

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 10,907.44 points, rising 0.33%, or 36.37 points, from the previous close on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index remained closed due to the Republic Day holiday.

On Tuesday, the BIST 100 slightly gained 0.16% to close at 10,871.08 points, with a daily transaction volume of 49.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.17 billion).

As of 09.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 41.9650 liras to the US dollar, 48.8790 to the euro, and 55.5360 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,967.90, while Brent crude oil was trading at $63.95 per barrel.
