Turkish stock exchange closes Monday at record high

BIST 100 index gains over 114 points

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at an all-time high of 4,331.66 points.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 2.72%, or 114.67 points from Friday's close of 4,216.98 points.

During the day, the index's lowest value was 4,230.14, points, while its daily high was 4,338.88.

The market value of the BIST 100 was around 3.4 trillion Turkish liras ($186 billion) at the close, with a trading volume of 107.8 billion liras ($5.8 billion).

Oil prices went down as a result of Chinese health officials' statements about the country's intention to maintain its zero-COVID policy, fueling demand concerns from the world's largest oil importer.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $98.43 per barrel at 6:30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), while an ounce of gold was $1,683.90, down 0.18%.
