Turkish stock exchange down at Wednesday's open

BIST 100 index loses around 16.7 points at midweek opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 13,916.67 points, decreasing 0.13% or 16.73 points from the previous close.

On Tuesday, the BIST 100 dropped 3.09% to close at 12,933.40 points, with a daily transaction volume of 162.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.7 billion).

As of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 43.9895 Turkish liras to the US dollar, 51.1370 to the euro, and 58.7095 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $5,156.90, while Brent crude oil was trading at $83.05 per barrel.
