Turkish stock exchange ends Monday in the red

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 164.18 points on first transaction day of the week

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 10,556.18 points, down 1.53% from the previous close.

After starting the week at 10,586.02 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 164.18 points from Friday's close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 10,528.37, while its daily high was 10,683.00.

During the day, 20 stocks on the index rose and 78 fell compared to the previous close.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 9.79 trillion Turkish liras ($235.1 billion), with a daily trading volume of 104.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.49 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $4,099.10, while Brent crude oil sold for around $63.45 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 41.7965, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate 48.3935, while one British pound trading for 55.7740 Turkish liras.
