Turkish stock exchange ends Monday in the red

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 88.36 points on week's 1st transaction day

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 10,853.43 points, down 0.81% from the previous close.

After starting the week at 10,928.36 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 88.36 points from Friday's close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 10,823.19, while its daily high was 10,948.13.

During the day, 29 stocks on the index rose and 65 fell compared to the previous close.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 10.08 trillion Turkish liras ($241.1 billion), with a daily trading volume of 124 billion Turkish liras ($2.95 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,981.75, while Brent crude oil sold for around $65.55 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 41.9080, and the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 48.8415, while one British pound traded for 55.8235 Turkish liras.
