Turkish stock exchange opens Thursday down

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 28.20 points at open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened the last trading day of the week at 9,446.75 points, down 0.30% or 28.20 points from the previous close.

The stock markets in Türkiye will be closed on Friday and next Monday due to Eid al-Adha.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 2.13% to close at 9,474.96 points, with a daily transaction volume of 75.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.93 billion).

As of 09.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 39.3350 liras to the US dollar, 44.8990 to the euro, and 53.3230 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,366.80, while Brent crude oil was trading at $64.65 per barrel.
