Turkish stock exchange opens Thursday up

Benchmark BIST 100 index gains 61.25 points at opening bell

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 11,195.98 points, rising 0.55%, or 61.25 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 surged 1.58% to close at 11,134.73 points, with a daily transaction volume of 135.3 billion Turkish liras ($3.3 billion).

As of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 40.9345 liras to the US dollar, 47.7225 to the euro, and 55.1705 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,336.35, while Brent crude oil was trading at $66.85 per barrel.
