ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened the first trading day of the week at 9,666.18 points, slightly down 0.02% or 2.18 points from the previous close.
The markets were closed on Monday due to the Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day.
On Friday, the BIST 100 climbed 1.33% to 9,668.36 points, with a daily transaction volume of 107.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.76 billion).
As of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 38.8580 liras to the US dollar, 43.7805 to the euro, and 51.0100 to the British pound.
The price of an ounce of gold was $3,210.35, while Brent crude oil was trading at $64.90 per barrel.
