Turkish stock exchange opens week on low note

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 86.40 points at opening bell

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, opened Monday at 9,116.97 points, down 0.94% or 86.40 points from the previous close.

On Friday, the BIST 100 rose 1.11%, closing at 9,203.37 points with a daily transaction volume of 80 billion Turkish liras ($2.02 billion).

As of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), the US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate stood at 39.7045, the EUR/TRY rate was 45.7715, and the GBP/TRY rate was 53.4415.

The price of one ounce of gold was $3,355.05, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $76.65.
