Turkish stock exchange starts Thursday down

BIST 100 index loses around 29 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 13,780.07, down 0.22%, or 29.81 points.

On Wednesday, the BIST 100 dropped 1.71% to close at 13,809.88 points, with a daily transaction volume of 175.6 billion Turkish liras ($4 billion).

As of 09.50 am local time (0650GMT), exchange rates stood at 43.8840 Turkish liras to the US dollar, 51.9745 to the euro, and 59.6270 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $5,196.05, while Brent crude oil was trading at $70.75 per barrel.
