Turkish stock exchange up at Friday open

Benchmark index gains 146.86 points at opening session

Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 9,275.88 points, up 1.61%, or 146.86 points, from the previous close.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 2.05% to close at 9,129.02 points, with a daily trading volume of 53 billion liras ($1.65 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 31.8880 as of 10.01 a.m. local time (0701GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 34.7031, while a British pound traded for 40.4063 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $91.15 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,198.25.
