Turkish stocks down at closing session

BIST 100 index declines nearly 69 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended the midweek at 5,297.77 points, down 1.28% from the previous close.

Starting Wednesday at 5,403.74 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 68.75 points compared to Tuesday's close of 5,366.52 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 5,103.30, while its daily high was 5,419.30.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 4.26 trillion Turkish liras ($226.96 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 112.7 billion Turkish liras ($5.98 billion).

During the day, 18 stocks on the index rose and 82 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,933.50, while Brent crude oil sold around $86.29 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT).
