ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index slipped 0.29% from its previous close to 119,801.63 points in Tuesday's closing session.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 120,816.15 points. As of the daily close, it fell 348.07 points from Monday's close of 120,149.70 points.
During Tuesday's trading, the index's hovered between 119,403.17 points and 121,109.42 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 827.3 billion Turkish liras ($139.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 11.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 46 stocks on the index rose, 53 were down, and one was flat compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producer Kardemir, and petrochemical company Petkim.
Stocks of automotive manufacturer Karsan (KARSN) were the best performer, up 4.82%, while information technologies company Netas (NETAS) dropped the most, down 3.93%.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,572.80 by market close, down from $1,582.60 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $59.20 per barrel as of 6.45 p.m. (1545GMT) on Tuesday.
