ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye’s benchmark stock index closed at 2,023.29 points on Thursday, jumping 1.87% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 2,009.33 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 37.20 points from Wednesday’s close of 1,986.09 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,009.33 points, while its daily high was 2,047.01 points, with a daily trading volume of 33.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).
A total of 83 stocks rose during the day, 15 fell, and two were unchanged compared to Wednesday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by iron and steel producer Kardemir, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and another iron and steel producer Eregli.
Shares of gold miner Koza Altin performed the best with a 9.98% increase, while stocks of renewable energy company Aydem saw the steepest decline of 2.69%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,922.00 by market close, down from $1,931.85 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $114.44 per barrel as of 6.16 p.m. local time (1502GMT), up 1.35% from the previous close.
