Turkish stocks flat at Friday's open

BIST 100 index slightly up from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,456.07 points on Friday, slightly up by 0.04%, or 0.65 points, from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.58% to 1,455.42 points, with a daily trading volume of nearly 27 billion Turkish liras ($2.9 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 9.5250 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 9.4770 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 11.0830 from 11.0290, while one British pound traded for 13.1680 Turkish liras, up from 13.1290.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $84.06 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
