Turkish stocks flat at opening session

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index drops around 2.4 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 5,168.59 points on Tuesday, down slightly by 0.05%, or 2.38 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased sharply by 3.2% to close Monday at 5,170.97 points, with a daily trading volume of 110 billion Turkish liras ($5.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.7803 as of 10.02 a.m. local time (0702GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.1654, and a British pound traded for 22.8690 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $79.50 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was at $1,877.95.
