Turkish stocks slightly up at midweek's open

Benchmark index up only by some 6 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 4,476.91 points, up by 0.13%, or 5.94 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Tuesday at 4,470.97 points, increasing by 0.11%, with a daily trading volume of 39.78 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.8840 as of 11 a.m. local time (0800GMT) and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.4650, while a British pound traded for 24.6940 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $77.7 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,976.25.
