Turkish stocks up 0.18% at midweek open

BIST 100 index rises 155.08 points from Tuesday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 6.05

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Wednesday up 0.18% or 155.08 points to open at 86,932.70 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.44% to close at 86,777.63 points with a daily trading volume of 6.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.12 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0500 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, up from 6.0140 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.7570, versus 6.7340, and one British pound traded for 7.6740 Turkish liras, compared to the last close at 7.6430.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $67.88 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) on Wednesday.
