Turkish stocks up at Friday opening

BIST 100 index rises over 380 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.34%, or 382.68 points, to start Friday at 114,035.70 points.

On Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.29% to 113,653.02 points with a daily trading volume of 8.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.9400 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, up from 5.9350 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.6010, versus 6.5870, and one British pound traded for 7.7360 Turkish liras, while it was 7.7230 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $68.00 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
