Turkish stocks up at Monday opening

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rises some 4.84 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,170.54 points on Monday, up 4.84 points or 0.42% from the previous close.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 1.32% to 1,165.70 with a daily trading volume of some 19.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.48 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.8990 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, up from last week's closing rate of 7.8890.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 9.3290, versus 9.3170, and one British pound traded for 10.3030 Turkish liras. It was 10.2650 at Friday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.41 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
