Turkish stocks up at Monday's close

BIST 100 gains over 10 points, closing day with market value of nearly $137B

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index went up 0.41% to 2,482.60 points on Monday.

After starting the day at 2,472.52 points, the BIST 100 index rose 10.10 points from Friday's close of 2,472.50 points.

Closing the day with a market value of around 2 trillion Turkish liras (nearly $137 billion), the index posted a daily trading volume of 43.9 billion Turkish liras ($3 billion).

During Monday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 2,427.60 and 2,498.77 points – 41 stocks on the index rose, 57 fell, and the remaining were flat compared to the previous close.

Shares of flagship carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and glass maker Sise posted the highest trading volumes.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,908.60 by market close, up from $1,940.30, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil fell to $99.3 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT), down 6.3% from the previous close.
