Turkish stocks up at weekly open

BIST 100 index gains over 18 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 2,619.81 points on Monday, gaining 18.56 points, or 0.71%, from the previous close.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul ended the week at 2,601.25 points with a daily loss of 0.01% but posted an all-time-high weekly closing, with a daily trading volume of 38.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 16.5613 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) up 0.55% from Friday’s close.

The euro/lira exchange rate was at 17.7768 for a daily gain of 1.1%, while a British pound traded for 20.7274 liras -- a 1.26% increase.

Brent crude oil was trading around $120.25 per barrel with a 0.43% increase following Saudi Arabia's increase in prices for crude oil sales for July.

The country hiked its price from $4.40 to $6.50 in oil sales to Asia.
