ANKARA (AA) – Turkish and Uzbek foreign ministers held a phone call, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan, the ministry noted.

On Monday, Cavusoglu also held separate phone calls with Azerbaijani, German, Danish, Croatian and Qatari foreign ministers, as well as the NATO Secretary-General.

Following dizzying advances across Afghanistan, the Taliban entered the capital Kabul on Sunday, taking control of the country for the first time in almost 20 years.

With the collapse of the government, the focus has turned to the safety of civilians and evacuees as well as Afghanistan’s future under the Taliban.
