ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye closed the Bosphorus, or the Istanbul Strait, to ships on Saturday after a suspected mine was reported.
According to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, the two-way ship traffic has been suspended through the strait after a civilian commercial vessel detected a mine-like object.
Earlier, the National Defense Ministry said underwater teams were sent to the scene to respond to the suspected mine and neutralize it.
The ministry said the object was reported in the morning off the Bosphorus.
