ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye on Wednesday extended condolences to Sudan over loss of lives in a landslide that occurred in the Northern African nation's Darfur region.
Türkiye is "deeply saddened" over the large number of deaths and destruction caused by the landslide, a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement said.
"We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and extend our condolences to the people of Sudan," the ministry added.
More than 1,000 people lost their lives in a landslide triggered by heavy rains in a village in the Central Darfur State of western Sudan, according to the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A), an armed group that controls the area.
