KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) - The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Friday provided financial support for vocational training courses for persons with disabilities in Jowzjan province in northern Afghanistan.

The project was implemented in collaboration with TIKA's Mazar-i-Sharif branch and the Afghan Disabled Protection Association.

It will provide courses for women in the manufacture of solid and liquid soap and for men in such areas as the production and repair of shoes, carpentry and welding of metal structures.

Courses are designed for six months. They will be attended by a total of 50 people with disabilities.

TIKA Mazar-i-Sharif Coordinator Mikail Tasdemir pointed out that the period of finding a job will be shortened as individuals who attend the courses gain professional skills.

He also stated that TIKA's support for disadvantaged groups in Afghanistan will continue.

Meanwhile, TIKA gave training on participation bank infrastructure to employees of the Afghanistan Central Bank and Ministry of Finance.

The training, which was carried out with the support of the UN Development Program, lasted three days.
