ISTANBUL (AA)—Türkiye's Center for Combating Disinformation on Monday dismissed social media claims of an attack on a US military base in the country as false.
In a statement, the center said posts circulating on certain social media accounts claiming that “a US military base located in Türkiye has been struck” do not reflect the truth.
The center emphasized that there are no military bases in Türkiye belonging to any foreign country, adding that the country’s airspace, land territory, maritime jurisdiction areas, and military facilities are fully under the sovereignty and control of the Republic of Türkiye.
It also said there has been no attack against Türkiye and described posts portraying the country as a party to regional conflicts as a clear act of disinformation.
According to the statement, Türkiye’s defense and security structure is fully operational, and all developments are being monitored in real time by relevant institutions.
The center urged the public not to give credence to unfounded allegations and to rely solely on official statements from authorities.
