ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 11,134.73 points, up 1.58% from the previous close.
After starting the day at 10,961.99, the BIST 100 index climbed 172.71 points from its close on Tuesday.
The lowest point for the index was 10,933.63, while the daily high was 11,157.25.
During the day, 72 indexes gained in value while 23 closed with losses.
The daily transaction volume reached 135.3 billion Turkish liras ($3.3 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.34 trillion liras ($253.38 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 40.9280 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 47.7660, and the British pound traded at 55.1635.
The price of an ounce of gold was $3,342.65, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $66.10.
