ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye's benchmark stock index closed on Monday at 2,045.16 points, up 0.58% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 2,049.54 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 11.84 points from Friday's close of 2,033.32 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 2,045.16 points, while its daily high was 2,071.81.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.6 trillion Turkish liras (some $119 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 34 billion liras ($2.5 billion).
During the day, 63 stocks on the index rose, 31 fell, and the remaining were unchanged compared to Friday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and iron/steel producer Eregli.
Pipe and tube producer Erbosan (ERBOS) was the best performer, with its shares up 9.91%, while stocks of automobile producer Tofas saw the sharpest drop, 2.24%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,805.00 by market close, up from $1,790.00 at Friday's close.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $81 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
