Türkiye's tourism revenues in 1st half of year total $25.78B, up 7.6%

Some 25.53M visitors visited Türkiye this January-June, up 1.7% year-on-year

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye saw a total of $25.78 billion in tourism revenues in the first six months of 2025, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday.

The figure was up 7.6% this January-June from the same period in 2024, the data showed.

The total number of visitors in the six-month period amounted to 25.53 million, up 1.7% year-on-year.

The average tourism expenditure per capita rose 5.6% year-on-year to $996.

This April-June, tourism revenues totaled $16.28 billion, up 8.4% on an annual basis.

"The share of package tour expenditures in total tourism income was 31%, the share of food and beverage expenditures was 19.4% and the share of international transport expenditures was 12.8% in the second quarter," TurkStat said in a statement.

International transport expenditures climbed 13.8% year-on-year, food and beverage expenditures were up 13.7%, and tour services expenditures rose 12.5%.

Türkiye saw the total number of visitors rise 2% to 16.12 million in the second quarter of the year.

In the second quarter, visitors' primary reason for visiting Türkiye was travel, entertainment, sports, and cultural activities with 71.1%.

The number two reason was visiting relatives and friends with 16.8% followed by shopping with 5.6%.
