KIRKUK (AA) – A Turkmen news broadcaster on Friday was killed by "Daesh gunmen" in Iraq’s northern city of Kirkuk, a local official said.
Ahmed Necmeddin Haceroglu, an employee of Kirkuk-based television channel Turkmeneli, was killed early Friday while covering a string of recent attacks by the terrorist group, Aydin Maruf, an MP for the Turkmen Front, told Anadolu Agency.
The attackers, Maruf said, had opened fire on one of the channel’s broadcast vehicles, killing Haceroglu instantly.
Security in Kirkuk has since been stepped up and all roads into and out of the city closed.
