DOUALA, Cameroon (AA) - A Ugandan private “inadvertently" killed two soldiers in friendly fire in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a senior local military official said on Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Mak Hazukay, the spokesman for joint Congolese-Ugandan military operations, said that one of the soldiers killed is Ugandan and the other Congolese.
The shooter "is under arrest," he said.
The Ugandan army joined the Congolese military in November 2021 as part of the operation against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
