UK economy expands 0.2% in Q2

UK also posts current account deficit of some $37.5B in Q2

ISTANBUL (AA) - The UK's economy expanded 0.2% in the second quarter of this year versus the first quarter, according to official figures released on Friday.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said gross domestic product is estimated to have risen 0.2% quarter-on-quarter, revised upwards from an initial estimate of minus 0.1%.

In the first quarter, the country's GDP grew 0.7% versus the last quarter of 2021.

The office also said the country posted a current account deficit of £33.7 billion ($37.46 billion) in the second quarter.
