UK economy grows 1.4% year-on-year in July, below estimates

On monthly basis, British GDP unchanged from previous month

ISTANBUL (AA) - The British economy grew 1.4% in July, below market forecasts, according to official data released on Friday.

The figure came below market expectations of a 1.5% growth for the month.

The latest figure followed a 1.4% growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) in June, Office for National Statistics (ONS) data showed.

On a monthly basis, the British GDP was stagnant in July.

Services and construction output both increased in July, by 0.1% and 0.2% on a monthly basis, respectively.

On the other hand, production output declined 0.9% in July.

"Real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.2% in the three months to July 2025 compared with the three months to April 2025, down from three-month-on-three-month growths of 0.3% in June 2025 and 0.6% in May 2025," ONS said in a statement.

In the three months to July, services output grew 0.4% and construction output rose 0.6%.

On the contrary, production output fell 1.3% in the three months to July.
