BERLIN (AA) - The average price of a house in the UK rose 2.8% on an annual basis in July, said the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Wednesday.
The average cost of a house in England reached £270,000 ($368,362); in Wales, around $285,300; and in Scotland, approximately $262,100, the data showed.
Rent prices surged 5.7% year-on-year in June in the UK, according to the ONS.
The average rent price in England rose 5.8% to $1,915, in Wales 7.8% to $1,107, and in Scotland 3.5% to $1,368.
London had the highest rent inflation in England, as rent in the capital surged 5.7% on an annual basis to approximately $3,075, per ONS data.
