LONDON (AA) - The UK is working with allies to establish what happened in relation to two explosions outside Kabul airport, Britain's Ministry of Defence said shortly after the blasts shook Afghanistan's capital on Thursday afternoon.
"We are working urgently to establish what has happened in Kabul and its impact on the ongoing evacuation effort," the ministry said in a statement.
"Our primary concern remains the safety of our personnel, British citizens and the citizens of Afghanistan. We are in close contact with our US and other NATO allies at an operational level on the immediate response to this incident," it added.
Two explosions took place outside Hamid Karzai International Airport, the center of evacuation efforts from Afghanistan since the Taliban took over the capital city earlier this month.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the explosions were the result of a suicide attack and that at least 3 US soldiers were among the injured.
