ISTANBUL (AA) – Britain’s annual inflation rate rose to 3.8% in July, Office for National Statistics (ONS) data showed on Wednesday.
The market expectation was 3.7% for the month of July, while the June figure was 3.6%.
On a monthly basis, the inflation rate was 0.1% this July, versus a forecast of minus 0.1%.
"Transport, particularly air fares, made the largest upward contribution to the monthly change," the statistics office said.
Housing and household services, particularly owner occupiers' housing costs, made a large, partially offsetting, downward contribution, it added.
Core inflation, excluding energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, was 3.7% in the country last month.
