ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met Saturday with Danish counterpart Troels Lund Poulsen in Copenhagen to discuss preparations for the Nordic Baltic 8 meeting, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s media service reported.

“The main topic of discussion was the preparation for the Nordic Baltic 8 meeting, which will take place today with the participation of Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. We expect important decisions that will help strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities,” said Umerov.

He emphasized that the priority remains meeting the urgent needs of Ukraine’s defense forces while simultaneously working on long-term strategic projects with partners.

“Denmark remains our reliable partner, and I am grateful to the country, its people, and personally to Troels Lund Poulsen for the constructive dialogue and unwavering support for Ukraine,” he said.

The Norwegian Parliament, meanwhile, has decided to increase support for Ukraine to 85 billion Norwegian kroner ($8 billion) in 2025, viewing it as a contribution to peace and stability in Europe.
