Ukraine holding 562 Russian prisoners of war

Ukrainian deputy prime minister says prisoners treated in accordance with international human rights

KYIV (AA) - Ukrainian deputy prime minister announced Saturday that the country is holding 562 Russian prisoners of war.

Iryna Vereshchuk said on local television that bodies of Russian soldiers were also found and noted that prisoners were treated in accordance with international human rights.

She said data on prisoners and corpses were prepared and forwarded to the International Committee of the Red Cross and noted that most prisoners did not want to return to Russia after being captured.
