ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine on Thursday revised the number of people injured from Wednesday’s Russian airstrike on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia to 116.
Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said on Telegram that out of the 116 people injured due to the strike, 66 remain in medical institutions in the city, and that 11 of them are in intensive care units.
“Another 47 people, including a 13-year-old girl who received a contusion, are receiving outpatient treatment,” Fedorov further said.
He said that the death toll remained at 13.
Fedorov had previously put the number of injured people at 109.
On Wednesday, Kyiv said that 13 people were killed in a Russian airstrike that struck the city of Zaporizhzhia, which is located about 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) from the front line with Moscow and has been frequently hit by airstrikes amid the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to the Ukrainian General Prosecutor’s Office, an unspecified number of multi-story buildings, as well as an industrial facility and other infrastructure, were damaged in the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said: “This was a direct attack on the city, on ordinary people. An absolutely deliberate strike by the Russian army. This shows once again what Russia truly seeks. They want only war, and only victims.
“That is why we must not waste a single day – we must put pressure on Moscow, we must force Russia into peace, we must continue doing everything necessary to protect lives and stop deaths.”
Russian authorities have yet to comment on Wednesday's attack.
