ISTANBUL (AA) — Ukraine said on Friday that at least one person was killed and four others were injured in an overnight Russian drone attack in the region surrounding the country’s capital Kyiv.
Acting Kyiv Governor Mykola Kalashnyk said on Telegram that a truck driver died from his wounds inflicted by falling fragments from a downed Russian drone in an unspecified location.
Kalashnyk further said that four others were injured in other parts of the Kyiv region.
Ukraine’s Air Force claimed on Telegram that its air defenses downed 60 out of 93 drones launched by Russia over the capital, as well as the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The statement went on to say that several strikes were recorded in private enterprises and apartment buildings in the Donetsk and Chernihiv regions.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the attack.
