ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian authorities on Monday claimed that two civilians were killed in separate incidents in the Kherson region, blaming Russian forces for shelling and air-dropped explosives.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, artillery fire struck the village of Mykilske around 3 pm local time (1200 GMT), killing a 73-year-old man in his yard. About 40 minutes later in Belozerka, explosives allegedly dropped on a civilian car killed the driver.

The Oleshkiv district prosecutor’s office said it launched a pre-trial investigation under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code on violations of the laws and customs of war.

“Prosecutors, together with investigators, continue to document war crimes committed by the Russian military,” the statement said.

Authorities in Kyiv also reported that two more people were injured in Russian shelling in Kherson over the past day.
