ISTANBUL (AA) – Ukrainian Presidential Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak has met with UK Prime Minister's National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell to discuss border clashes with Russia, ceasefire violations, and increasing Western support for Ukraine.
Yermak said on Friday that he shared details from a recent visit to the northeastern Sumy region with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where "fierce fighting continues near the border with Russia."
“We discussed the importance of a comprehensive ceasefire,” Yermak said in a statement. “Ukraine is adhering to the agreements regarding a ceasefire on energy infrastructure, while Russia is not.”
He added that both sides exchanged views on “security guarantees, maintaining sanctions against Russia, and enhancing Europe’s defense capabilities,” while also highlighting the need for increased military and financial aid to Ukraine.
“Grateful for the continued support,” Yermak added.
